Biography

David Guerrier has been playing the trumpet since the age of seven and achieved great success early on: he won first prizes at the Maurice André Competition and the ARD Music Competition, among others. At the age of 16, he also took up the horn. He studied at the Conservatoire de Lyon with Pierre Dutot, the Mozarteum Salzburg with Hans Gansch and the University of Music Vienna. In 2004, he began his orchestral career as principal horn in the Orchestre National de France. In 2009, he took up the same position with the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra, where he switched to solo trumpet.

He was principal trumpet in Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France since 2021. He knows the orchestral repertoire as a horn player and rediscovered it as a trumpet player. The Berliner Philharmoniker, which he joined in January 2024, opened up a whole new world for him: “The way of playing and thinking is completely different here, much freer and yet everyone is pursuing the same goal. It's incredibly exciting and inspiring.” David Guerrier also works as a soloist and chamber musician with numerous acclaimed artists and ensembles.
