Biography
Jelka Weber, who received her first flute lessons at the age of eight, began her studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich under Hermann Klemeyer in 1990. While still a student, she played as a substitute in the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks. From 1994 to 1996, she was mentored by Andreas Blau as a scholarship holder of the Orchestra Academy. In 1996 she was engaged by the Magdeburg Philharmonic as principal flute, and the following year she joined the Berliner Philharmoniker.
The musician is also active as a soloist and chamber musician. From 1996 to 2006, Jelka Weber was a member of the Ensemble Berlin, and since 1997 she has been a regular guest with the Scharoun Ensemble Berlin and the Davos Festival. Since 2008, the multiple prize-winner of prestigious competitions has been teaching at the Berliner Philharmoniker’s Orchestra Academy.
