The trip starts at the bubbling source of the Vltava, past a cheerful hunting party, a joyful peasant wedding, raging rapids, dancing water nymphs, and a medieval castle. With his tone poems Vyšehrad and The Moldau from his cycle Má vlast (My Fatherland), the Czech composer Bedřich Smetana describes the beauty of his homeland and at the same time creates one of the best-loved works of classical music with The Moldau.
