Great symphonic music from the last phase of the late Romantic period awaits the audience in this series: while chief conductor Kirill Petrenko and honorary conductor Daniel Barenboim interpret orchestral music by Antonín Dvořák and Gustav Mahler, Paavo Järvi and Simone Young make a plea for the unjustly rarely performed Symphonies Nos. 1 and 2 by Anton Bruckner. François-Xavier Roth, who is highly regarded not least for his original concert dramaturgy, will be presenting a programme of symphonies as part of the Paradise Lost? Von der Bedrohung der Natur presents a programme with Claude Debussy’s impressionist masterpiece La Mer as the highlight. Kazuki Yamada presents a musical-geographical panorama in his debut programme with excursions to France, Italy and his home country of Japan. Other high-calibre guests in the series include artist in residence Seong-Jin Cho.
