When the members of the Berliner Philharmoniker and the Karajan Akademie are travelling with our VeloStage mobile bicycle stage, they have a lot of chamber music in their luggage. Concerts also take place in places where there is otherwise no stage. The VeloStage travels around Berlin to daycare centres, schools and communal accommodation and enriches the Long Night of Museums, programmes at the Kulturforum and our Open Day, for example. It is also part of the Easter Festival in Baden-Baden.
Music meets history in the 35th year of the fall of the Berlin Wall. The Berlin Wall was built during the construction period of the Philharmonie Berlin and just a few metres away from it. In joint events with the Berlin Wall Foundation on the VeloStage – the Berliner Philharmoniker’s mobile bicycle stage - gripping conversations with contemporary witnesses are combined with expressive music. The choice of venues for the “Harmonies of Unity” series is based on the former inner-city route of the Wall. For the first time, the VeloStage will stop at the site of the Berlin Wall Memorial in Bernauer Straße, among other places.
The “Harmonies of Unity” series is an independent project as part of the Voluntary Social Year of Culture (FSJK) in June 2024.
