Frank Peter Zimmermann and the Berliner Philharmoniker made “four unique, unparalleled reference recordings” declared the jury of the 2022 German Record Critics’ Prize, awarding them their top honour. The joint edition featured four major violin concertos by Beethoven, Berg and Bartók under the conductors Daniel Harding, Kirill Petrenko and Alan Gilbert.
However, the award ceremony had to wait until the first joint concert date after the award announcement, which will be 31 January 2025 – as part of the concert in which Frank Peter Zimmermann will perform Elgar’s Violin Concerto under the baton of Kirill Petrenko. During the interval, the prize will be awarded in the south foyer of the Philharmonie. After a welcome address by the orchestra’s General Manager Andrea Zietzschmann, jury members Julia Kaiser and Dr Eleonore Büning will present the certificates to Eva-Maria Tomasi, violinist and member of the orchestra board, and Frank-Peter Zimmermann.
The Frank Peter Zimmermann Edition is available in the Philharmonie shop and in our online shop.
