Accessibility

The Philharmonie Berlin is under historical monument protection thanks to their unique architecture by Hans Scharoun. This unfortunately means that barrier-free access can not be guaranteed to all areas. We put together the most important information for you.

Dress code

This is Berlin. Our guests wear what they want, from suits and evening dress to jeans and t-shirts. The choice is yours!

Admission and cloakroom

One hour before the concert begins, we open the Philharmonie for admission and box office. The box office for the main auditorium and guest events can be found via the northern entrance in Herbert-von-Karajan-Straße, for the Chamber Music Hall please use the southern entrance (see map).

Our cloakroom is free of charge. You may take bags up to approximately 8×12 inches (20×30 cm) into the auditorium, but please leave larger bags at the cloakroom. Please note that we cannot check in batteries at the cloakroom for safety reasons.

The auditorium doors open 30 minutes before the start of the event and you can then go to your seat. If you arrive too late, we cannot grant admission out of respect for the performers and the audience.

Concert introductions

Be well prepared for the concert! Forty-five minutes before each Berliner Philharmoniker concert, our knowledgeable, informative and entertaining experts will be waiting for you in the South Foyer of the Philharmonie Berlin to prepare you for the programme (talks are in German only).

For other concerts, such as those by guest organisers or in the Chamber Music Hall, introductions cannot always be offered. Detailed information can be found in our concert calendar.

Programme booklet

Our programme booklets feature introductions to the works, biographies and fascinating articles, and can be downloaded in advance as PDF files from the concert page in the calendar. On site, you can obtain programme booklets for concerts of the Berliner Philharmoniker Foundation for 3 to 5 euros. While our programme books are published in German, we generally also make an English translation of at least one article from each programme book available on our website.

Catering and intervals

Our bars in the foyers provide refreshments one hour before the start of the concert and during the intervals. In addition, our catering van in front of the Potsdamer Strasse entrance is open before and after the concerts. The interval last 20 minutes.

Drinks and snacks can be pre-ordered from our catering partner Firma Gerresheim at +49 30 265 15 24, by email or using the form linked below.
